Based in Scorton, the Priory Hotel provides luxury
accommodation within easy reach of Preston and Lancaster. Some portions
of 'The Priory' date back to the early 1600s, but today, it is a
popular venue for cyclists, walkers and other visitors to the area.
It combines a hotel, restaurant and Stouts bar, and provides a range
of other services including outdoor catering and special functions
including parties and weddings.
The
menus range from breakfast, lunches and light snacks to full evening
meals. The food on offer is of a traditional English flavour with
international dishes appearing on the specials board. All food is
locally sourced, using Fylde Coast or Bowland Forest produce and
Garstang cheeses. The Priory is open all year round (except Christmas
day) and food is served daily until 9pm.
The owners have recently renovated the residential
part of the property and have developed seven en suite bedrooms
to accommodate visitors. All hotel rooms have a bath or shower,
tea and coffee making facilities and are individually furnished
to a high standard. The rooms are non-smoking . Tariffs and further
details are available on the Priory's own website.
Scorton has long been a destination and rest stop
for cyclists from all over the Northwest. Records indicate that
Preston Cycling Club held meetings in the village in the early 1900s.
More recently, national cycle route number 6 has been routed through
Scorton and the village has hosted many visitors for the Tour of
Lancashire. Many local clubs use the Priory as a meeting place and
prize giving venue. In recent years, Scorton Time Trial has been
a stage of the Tour of Lancashire and the Priory is often a start
point for local time trials and a check in station for long charity
rides.
