Blindhurst, Bleasdale
Bob and Elizabeth Kelsall of Big Blindhurst Farm are currently converting
a barn to create two new luxury holiday lets in an area of outstanding
beauty. Bob and Elizabeth own the adjoining dairy and sheep farm,
so the accommodation will give guests the chance to experience the
sights and sounds of a working upland farm.
Big Blindhurst is in a secluded location near
to Parlick Pike, and is accessed via a private track. It offers
walking from the door
and affords easy access to the local fells.
In addition to the usual Saturday-to-Saturday week,
weekend and mid-week breaks are also available (bookable up to a
month in advance during peak periods.)

Bleasdale Cottages
Bleasdale Cottages are a group of recently converted holiday properties
nestling at the foot of Fairsnape Fell in the Forest of Bowland.
Originally built as part of the farm and now newly accredited as
4 star self catering accommodation, the cottages provide the perfect
base for a walking holiday, cycling holiday or any short break in
the Bowland Forest.
Robert and Anne Gardner are the owners of Lower
Fairsnape Farm, on which the cottages are sited and have a strong
interest in conservation. In 2000, they planted 9.8 Ha. of native
woodland and have been encouraging new habitat for wildlife and
wading birds such as Lapwing, Curlew, Snipe, Redshank and Oyster
Catcher that all breed on the farm. Locally, there is also a healthy
population of Brown Hares.

Calderbank
Country Lodge
Calderbank
Country Lodge is currently developing new guest accommodation. Due
for completion early in 2006, all rooms will be en-suite and food
will be provided in the bar and restaurant downstairs.
Calderbank Country Lodge was built in the late
1820s and has, at various times, been a private residence and a
hotel. It was recently renovated by the proprietors, Rowland and
Lesley Hayward and now incorporates many environmentally friendly
features. In May 2005, the lodge became the first business in Lancashire
to win a Green Tourism Award for sustainability.

Cleveley
Mere Fishing and Lodges
Cleveley
Mere is a beautiful and very peaceful 23 acre lake set in a private
nature reserve, and is considered to be one of the finest smaller
trout fly fishing venues in the North West of England. It is available
for holiday bookings and, within the grounds, its owners offer all
year-round holiday lets.
Guests have the choice of self catering accommodation
either staying in a self contained A-Frame Lodge or in the luxury
Fisherman's Suite, which is a self contained annex within the owners'
main lodge.
The Mere is a private nature reserve for water
fowl and wildlife including kingfishers, deer and otter. It has
become an area of outstanding natural beauty and is now designated
a Heritage Site.

Lakewood Cottages
Based
in Galgate, Lakewood Cottages is set on a small working farm, where
a stone barn has recently been converted into four self catering
holiday cottages. Positioned in a picturesque lakeside/woodland
setting, the cottages are suitable for families of varying sizes
and are designed to offer guests the utmost peace and relaxation.
The site is a grassland farm on which the owners,
Alec and Christine Sayer, graze sheep and beef cattle. They place
a strong emphasis on wildlife habitat and, consequently, the woods
and farmland around the cottages are rich in flora and fauna. Many
pleasant and interesting walks can alo be found on the footpaths
around the farm.
As well as possessing oil-fired central heating,
all the cottages at Lakewood boast exposed beams, natural timber
and impressive stone fireplaces with wood burning stoves. The cottages
are all non-smoking and pets are not allowed.

The Priory Hotel
Based
in Scorton at the edge of the Bowland Forest, the Priory Hotel offers
seven recently renovated en suite bedrooms. All rooms have a bath
or shower, tea and coffee making facilities and are individually
furnished to a high standard.
In addition to a good night's rest in well appointed
and historic surroundings, guests can also count on top quality,
locally sourced food from the popular Priory Restaurant. There are
many scenic walks in the immediate area, and the village is ideally
situated for keen cyclists, many of whom use the hotel and the adjoining
Stouts bar as a stopping off point on tours of the Bowland Forest.
All rooms are non-smoking and the owners regret
that the hotel is unable to accommodate pets.
The Priory can cater for special indoor or outdoor
functions, including weddings, and offers a range of facilities
for business meetings and other events. The Sandwell Room will seat
80 guests.

Wyreside Lakes Fishery
Set
in approximately 300 acres of land, Wyreside Lakes Fishery offers
eight different fishing lakes, a camping / caravan site and bed
& breakfast facilities with all services provided. It also boasts
a restaurant and licensed bar.
Sunnyside Bed & Breakfast is a 150 year old
farmhouse typical of the Bowland area, and is the perfect setting
for a short break with walking or bird watching - or of course a
fishing trip! The Farmhouse comprises four comfortable non-smoking
bedrooms. One room features an en-suite bathroom. All rooms are
centrally heated, with warm beds, colour televisions and tea or
coffee making facilities.
There is also a 3 star rated campsite with a full
range of facilities for overnight stays including hard standing
pitches, toilets and a shower block including disabled access. For
the children, there is a safe play area and lots of wildlife and
a wood to investigate. Prices are available on the Wyreside
